Risk Assessment for new NIH BSL-4  Rocky Mountain Laboratory

-- Accomplishments

  • Application and integration of our "maximum possible risk" model into the previously completed environmental impact statement for RML
  • Development and application of an interactive model for computing risk of "worst case" community exposure over several test "scenarios" of intentional or unintentional laboratory breeches
  • Application of a proprietary model for dispersion of "deliberately enhanced" bacterial spores compared to naturally occurring bacterial spores under conditions specific to the RML location
  • Successful presentations before community groups and media representatives to answer questions and explain the containment and control of risks for the RML
